All post expense revenue generated through our workshops and trainings go to support the mission of Shamanic Voyages Inc. which is to provide interactive educational opportunities for students of shamanism and select related causes.

Our next Drum Building Workshop will be on August 12 and 13, 2023 in Eliot, ME which is about an hour North of Boston. The fee for this event is $250, which includes the cost of materials and instruction. We will meet from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on Saturday, and from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday. Our Drum Making Workshop is a weekend hands on training on how to construct a natural hide hand drum. This workshop includes an introduction to the use of the drum in shamanic journeying, as well as an opportunity to practice the core shamanic journey first hand. The workshop fee includes all the materials and instruction you will need to fashion your own round, 15” drum of elk or deer hide, (these two are the best choice for beginners).

Day one begins with an introduction to shamanism, both historical and contemporary. We will also discuss the importance of sonic driving in achieving the trance state, or shamanic state of consciousness and how to use it effectively. In the afternoon, we will begin the construction of the drums themselves. Step by step instruction will be given as you bring form and life to your new drum in a reverent and respectful way.

On the second day, you will be able to hear your drums voice for the first time! After a gentle group drumming, you will be led on a shamanic journey to meet the spirit of your drum and begin to form your spiritual bond with it. There will also be an opportunity to practice drumming techniques and optimal cadence for successful journeying. A bibliography and resource list will be handed out for further learning opportunities as well.

For more advanced groups, special alterations to the content of this workshop can be arranged by prior agreement. These include more advanced healing techniques for seasoned journeyers, and other hide species for those who have had drum building experience. For seasoned shamanic practitioners, the program can be focused mainly on tool making, by trading journey time for the making of rattles or tool decoration. We are happy to accommodate specific needs whenever possible.

The cost of the weekend workshop will vary, depending on location and content, but will range from $250 -$325 per participant, travel expenses and lodging being part of the equation. A deposit/materials fee of $125 for the basic workshop must accompany your registration and be submitted no less than fifteen days before the workshop date. The balance must be paid no later than the first morning of the workshop. Other Workshops, Trainings and Lectures

In addition to the Drum Making workshops, we offer training workshops on Shamanic Divination and Healing Techniques, featuring methods and practices that Crow has learned over his years of study with both indigenous and contemporary shamans. These workshops can be tailored for individuals, small or large groups.

Mentorship referrals and specialized training with other practitioners is also an important networking service that we offer. If you are far from our home area, chances are there is someone we can recommend near you.
