In Memoriam

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Michael Harner, one of the most important voices in the resurgence of modern shamanism. On 3 February, 2018, Michael released his connection to this realm peacefully and among those closest to him. He will be remembered for his groundbreaking work in the study of shamanism worldwide, and the development of 'Core Shamanism', which incorporates the commonalities of shamanic practices across cultures.

He was also the founder of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of shamanism through education. He also authored several papers and books on shamanism, including 'The Way of the Shaman', and 'Cave and Cosmos'.

He will be remembered for his indefatigable work, both in the field and as a teacher, introducing the elements of shamanic practice to modern Western society, at a time when it is sorely needed. He was a gifted and humble man, who was always approachable and deeply interested in our common spiritual landscape.

Michael Harner, Born 27 April, 1929, Died 3 February 2018. You are fondly remembered.
